Kinesiology taping and therapeutic bracing support injured joints and muscles during recovery. Taping techniques reduce swelling, support weak areas, and provide proprioceptive feedback to improve movement patterns.
Your Penang home visit physiotherapist applies taping during sessions and teaches you or your caregiver how to reapply between visits. Bracing recommendations are also provided when appropriate.

How to prepare
Clean and dry the skin over the area to be taped. Shave excessive body hair 24 hours in advance if possible. Avoid lotions or oils on the skin the day of application. Flag any history of skin allergies or tape sensitivity.
When it is not suitable
Taping is not suitable over open wounds, active skin infections, fragile skin, or where there is a known tape allergy. Bracing may not be suitable if it masks a fracture, worsens circulation, or limits necessary rehabilitation movement – always follow physiotherapist guidance.
What to expect after
If tape causes itching, redness, or discomfort, remove it and message your Penang physiotherapist. Keep tape dry for 1 hour after application. Continue prescribed exercises – tape supports but does not replace active rehabilitation.
