Freelance Home-Visit Physiotherapist (Penang)
Join the PhysioPenang network as an independent, MAHPC-registered physiotherapist.
Take home-visit cases across Penang Island and the Mainland on a per-visit basis, choose your own caseload, and set your own schedule.
RM80–160 per home visit · depending on experience
If you want to run your own physiotherapy practice without the cost and commitment of a clinic, freelance home-visit work is one of the most flexible ways to do it in Penang.
As an independent physiotherapist in the PhysioPenang network, you take home-visit cases on a per-visit basis, decide which areas you cover, and build a caseload that fits your life.
What the freelance arrangement looks like
This is genuinely independent work. You are not an employee and you are not tied to a roster.
When a home-visit request comes in for an area you cover, you decide whether to take it.
You set your own weekly availability, and you can scale up during quieter months or wind down when your calendar is full.
Most freelance physiotherapists in our network mix new assessments with follow-up rehab sessions — post-surgery knees, frozen shoulders, lower-back pain, stroke recovery and geriatric mobility work.
Because visits happen in the patient’s home, you see how they actually move in their own environment, which often makes your treatment plans more practical and effective.
You are paid per completed visit, so your income scales directly with how much you choose to work.
There is no clinic rent, no receptionist to fund, and no equipment lease — you bring your own hands-on skills and portable tools.
A typical week
A freelance week is what you make it.
Some physiotherapists build a full Monday-to-Saturday schedule of six to eight visits a day across the island; others take three or four visits a day around family or study commitments.
Because you choose your own areas, you can cluster visits geographically — a morning in George Town, an afternoon in Jelutong — to cut down on travel.
You manage your own appointment times directly with patients once a case is assigned, which means you control the pace and never inherit an overbooked diary.
How pay works
Freelance home visits pay RM80–160 per home visit.
The figure reflects the treatment itself; you factor your own travel time and fuel into which areas you choose to cover.
Rates are confirmed individually and depend on your experience, the complexity of the case and the arrangement you agree with us.
Because you are paid per visit rather than a fixed salary, experienced physiotherapists who work efficiently and keep a full calendar often earn more than they would in a salaried clinic role — while keeping full control of their schedule.
Areas you can cover
You choose your coverage.
Popular island areas include George Town, Air Itam, Jelutong, Tanjung Bungah and Bayan Lepas; on the Mainland, Butterworth and Bukit Mertajam see steady demand.
You are never expected to cover the whole state — pick the areas you can realistically reach and we route cases accordingly.
